I glanced at the table of contents for the New Yorker Summer Fiction issue. No surprise that it features many of the exact same authors that they've been publishing for the last ten years or so. I actually enjoy some of the writers, and some of the others I don't really care one way or the other about, but I'm not excited about any of it.
At this point I don't read the New Yorker for their fiction because they rarely give me any new writers to watch out for. I do, however, still find interesting non-fiction, and that keeps me subscribing.
I'm looking forward to the article on Murakami and I hope the fiction manages to surprise me.
